ERRR #091. Greg Ashman on the Essential Elements of a High Performing School

This episode we’re speaking with greg Ashman. Greg is a teacher, writer, blogger, some time podcaster, and Deputy Principal at Ballarat Clarendon College in Victoria, Australia. 

Greg is a prolific writer and you can find his regular thoughts on his Substack newsletter, Filling the Pail, which is the go-to-blog for many educators when it comes to staying up-to-date with ideas and debates in education, both in Australia and worldwide. 

Greg has a PhD in Instructional Design, he is a part-time professor at Academica University of Applied Science in Amsterdam, and an Honorary Fellow at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy at Australian Catholic University, Sydney.

He is one of the most respected commentators on education in Australia and he has done phenomenal work at Ballarat Clarendon College, the topic of today’s discussion. 

I think you’re really going to like this one today, it’s a highly practical chat that followed a couple of weeks after my day visit to Ballarat Clarendon College, Victoria’s highest performing school when it comes to leavers results. It was a fantastic visit and, as I emphasise in the podcast, the heartening thing about it is that Clarendon gets these results through implementing all of the tried and true strategies that we have mentioned time and time again in this podcast, and that those following what many call the Science of Learning are implementing around the country, and the world. 

But, there are a few nuances to how they do it, and I hope that this is what we reveal, in this podcast. I hope you love it!
